Lake Geneva has a length of 40 miles, from Villeneuve to Geneva. The correct name is the French version: « Lac Léman », as Geneva has just a few miles on the western end of the lake. Lake Léman is the largest lake in Switzerland and the biggest sweet water reserve in Europe. Reason: he is much deeper (315 m, over 1000 ft) than lake Balaton (Hungary) or lake of Constance. Water quality is very good. Frequent and detailed controls attest it. Bathing is everywhere possible.

Opposite to the situation on other swiss lakes (for example the Lake of Zurich or the western part of the Lake Léman, named « small lake », the part which contents Lake Geneva to name the worst), you will encounter only few other boats on this eastern part of the lake, also named « high lake ». Even in the best season or on a summerly sunny week-end, you will still have a lot of free space around you.

The mountains falls rapidly from more than 6000 feet, down to the 1220 feet high lake surface. As the lake is still more than 4 miles wide, you won't feel like in a narrow valley. The magic scenery is excellent to help relaxing.
